Apprenticeships

Overview

The London Borough of Sutton is home to over 8,200 businesses, and we believe that apprenticeships can play an important part in the local economy by improving skills and driving productivity.

An apprenticeship enables an individual to study for a work-based qualification that can significantly improve their skills and career enjoyment.

Information for Business – Apprenticeship Levy

In Spring 2017 the way the government funds apprenticeships changed. Some employers will now be required to contribute to the cost of training for apprentices and larger employers will be subject to the full costs through the Apprenticeship Levy: The levy requires all employers operating in the UK, with a pay bill over £3 million each year, to invest in apprenticeships.

The Sutton Apprenticeship Hub

The Sutton Apprenticeship Hub aims to address this challenge. It was designed and developed by Sutton apprentices and helps match the supply and demand of apprenticeship opportunities across Sutton.

The hub is a resource for young people and their parents, educators and businesses, to find out more information about the benefits of starting, or offering an apprenticeship and the career prospects involved.
